The Cardiovascular Center of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean is the only
institution in Puerto Rico that specializes in the prevention, treatment, and
cardiovascular surgery for adult and pediatric conditions. In addition, this
institution has the only Pediatric Cardiovascular Clinic that counts with a
unique Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. The Center was founded in
1992 with the commitment to provide the highest quality of healthcare services.
We are one of its kind in offering heart transplant in Puerto Rico. The Center
is among a select group of renowned and prestigious hospitals of the American
nation that performs heart transplants. Patients from Puerto Rico as well as
from other countries, diagnosed with congestive heart failure, have the option
to be treated in our country (UNOS
restrictions apply). Our Heart Transplant Program is recognized among the
top three in the United States, with the lowest time of ischemia to the recovered
organ and waiting period for patients. It is the only Heart Transplant Program
outside the United States associated with the United Network for Organ Sharing
(UNOS).
The Cardiovascular Center of Puerto Rico and the Caribbean is accredited by the
Joint Commission for Accreditation of Health Organizations and by the Center of
Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
